The latest features of the Galaxy S20 smartphone

The latest features of the Galaxy S20 smartphone
Announced in February 2020 at the same time as the second foldable smartphone of the Samsung brand, Galaxy Z Flip, and available at the beginning of March 2020, the Galaxy S20 smartphone comes to succeed the Galaxy S10. This new flagship of the South Korean firm is available in three versions: the S20 with a 6.2 inch screen, the S20 + with a 6.7 inch screen and the S20 Ultra of 6.9 inches. Like its predecessors, the new generation of Samsung Galaxy promises new features to stand out from the competition. Zoom on the latest features of the Galaxy S20
An impressive screen
If there is one area in which Samsung excels, it is the quality of its screens. The brand has delivered its most impressive display so far for the S20 range. The smartphone incorporates an AMOLED skylight with Quad HD + resolution and HDR10 + technology. This feature is available on all models of Samsung Galaxy S20 regardless of the version. The refresh rate or frequency has also increased to 120 Hz, which will delight gamers. As the display refreshes more often, animations are smoother
As for resolution, the screen offers a resolution of 424 pixels per inch "by default". This is ideal for everyday use. It is however possible to switch to QHD + and have a display of 566 pixels per inch for use with a virtual reality headset. Note, however, that the resolution on a daily basis is enough to enjoy vibrant colors, very deep contrast and impressive brightness, up to 708 cd / m²
A 5G compatible smartphone
By making the entire Galaxy S20 range compatible with 5G, Samsung is on the right track. In fact, 87% of organizations plan to equip themselves with long-term fleets compatible with this latest generation of wireless technology. Note however that this smartphone will remain compatible with all available 4G bands
Improved photo quality
Samsung has really bet big on the photo taking function of the Galaxy S20. The latter has 3 cameras on the back for the S20 version and 4 4K photo sensors for the other two versions. Each camera is specialized in a type of shooting: wide-angle (12 megapixels against 108 megapixels for the S20 Ultra), ultra wide-angle (12 megapixels), zoom / telephoto (64 megapixels against 48 megapixels for the S20 Ultra) and DepthVision. The front sensor, meanwhile, peaks at 10 megapixels for the S20 and S20 + and 40 megapixels for the S20 Ultra. Compared to the S10 series, the S20 cameras occupy less screen area  55%

The zoom is also another advantage of the S20 smartphone. Indeed, we announced the possibility of zooming 100 times with the Ultra version and 30 times with the two versions S20 and S20 +. Which is very real. On the other hand, the quality tends to drop a little when you reach a higher zoom level
Other photo features include fast cropping and improved night mode. This uses combination or nona binning technology which allows to take on more nuances and preserve shadows and lights. Portrait mode is also more efficient. Thanks to the time-of-flight sensor, the strands of hair are more visible and the edges are sharper. So even in the absence of a second standalone camera like the S10 +, the smartphone manages to manage the background blur
A final innovation: 8K video recording with the possibility of capturing 30 frames per second. Of course, it takes a lot of storage space to take full advantage of this feature. Approximately 600 MB is required per minute of recording. Lack of space will interfere with autofocus
More speed
Beyond the previously mentioned features, the Galaxy S20 is also a fast smartphone. If the other series have already gained speed with the arrival of the Snapdragon 820 processor, the S20 enjoys even more speed with the Snapdragon 855 for America and China and the Exynos 990 for Europe and Asia . The credit for the speed increase also goes to Qualcomm. All three versions offer at least 12 GB of RAM, up to 16 GB for the Ultra version. This allows you to open three applications at the same time while enjoying faster switching

In terms of storage capacity, Samsung now uses UFS 3.0 storage on the S20. The basic capacity is 128 GB for the S20, and 128 GB or 512 GB for the S20 + and S20 Ultra

A more resistant battery and autonomy
While the Galaxy S10 offered a 3400 mAh battery, the new S20 series outdoes itself with a 4000 to 5000 mAh battery and a fast charge of 45 W for the Ultra version and 25 W for the two other smartphones in the range . It is clear that with these improvements in battery life and fast charging capacity, this smartphone will satisfy and reassure users. Although the problem of dropping the battery too quickly has not yet been really solved by the company. Even by launching energy-efficient applications, the autonomy can suddenly decrease because of their accumulation and their successive opening
One UI 2.0 interface
Out of the box, the S20 smartphone is powered by Android 10 and the One UI 2.0 interface. Thanks to this new overlay from Samsung, the first version of which has already brought many improvements over the previous Galaxy and Note series, the user can enjoy a better experience, especially with new features such as better handling. charge of back gestures, the extension of the dark mode and a concentration mode which prevents the holder from being distracted in what he is doing. Once activated, the concentration mode prevents access to a defined list of applications

Another new feature is the easier access to the notification panel by simply sliding your thumb down from anywhere on the screen, and no longer just at the top. The S20 also incorporates a new file sharing system called Quick Share. Just launch the function and open the file to share and send it by choosing the recipient (s) from the available users. Note that it is also possible to send the file to a contact even remotely. You both just need to be signed in to your Samsung account
